: an Indian timber tree (Gmelina arborea) of the family Verbenaceae yielding a light brown lustrous wood that is highly resistant to moisture, easily worked, and used especially for cabinetwork, carving, interior finishes, and boats and having roots, leaves, and fruits that are locally used in medicine — called also gamari
